Former Orange Juice frontman Edwyn Collins, who nearly died from a braing haemorrhage seven years ago, has been honoured for his contribution to music.
The Association of Independent Music awards awarded the singer for more than thirty years of music making.
Famed for his hit A Girl Like You, the singer suffered a stroke and two haemorrhages in 2005, as well as hospital superbug MRSA.
The 53-year-old was left unable to walk, talk or read as a result.
Since making a recovery, the star has gone on to produce, record and write once more.
