Prince Charles gave his royal seal of approval to the Rugby League World Cup when he met with players and representatives from all 14 nations competing in the competition.
Tournament director Nigel Wood said: "To receive support from His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is another great boost for the tournament, the competing nations and the sport of Rugby League."
The competition officially began on 19 October with a spectacular opening ceremony at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The first game saw New Zealand beat Samoa 42 -24 and was followed by a closely run contest between France and Papua New Guinea which ended in a 9-8 win for the French.
Rugby League World Cup 2013 will be the eighth major sporting world cup to be held in the UK.
