5 DECEMBER 2003
Hotel heiress Paris Hilton, who admits she'd never worked a full day in her life, can be spotted driving a pickup truck, milking cows and washing a tractor – in a string bikini no less – in the new US TV reality show The Simple Life.

For the programme, the 22-year-old blonde and her pal Nicole Richie, daughter of singer Lionel Richie, moved to Altus, Arkansas, to live on a farm with three generations of the Leding family. These ranged from four-year-old son Braxton to 76-year-old grandpa Richard.

But the wealthy young beauties' stay soon hit a snag, as they were sacked from their first-ever job on the first day.

Though Paris and Nicole woke at 5.15am "really excited" about their new posts on a nearby milk farm, the adventure soon went awry. After cleaning udders and milking cows – Ms Richie bursts into tears after getting manure all over her – the two opted to change into bikinis and sneak off for a dip in the farmer's hot tub. When they followed the relaxing bath with a nap in the farmer's home he gave them the boot, however. But the day wasn't a complete waste – the posh pair were each paid $42 for their half-day's work.
