Tempers flared in the world of celebrity as stars lost their cool on opposite sides of the world over recent days. Police in Ireland are hoping to interview glamorous royal Zara Phillips, after she witnessed a fracas involving soccer star Stan Collymore in Dublin. And movie veteran Omar Sharif is in hot water after allegedly attacking Lord Of The Rings star John Noble.
The incident in Dublin took place outside Lillie's Bordello nightclub, a favourite haunt for celebs visiting the Irish capital. Both Zara and James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan were in the club when a row apparently broke out between Stan and a group of Bath rugby players.
According to witnesses, the disagreement centred on the former footballer's claims he had an affair with TV star Kirsty Gallacher. The Sky Sports presenter, who denies the claims, is currently dating former Bath player Paul Sampson. After leaving the club, Stan followed the party to a nearby Burger King, where the argument deteriorated into a rolling brawl. Police sources say they are analysing video footage of the incident, while lawyers for Mr Collymore say he will probably bring a civil action.
Thousands of miles away in India, meanwhile, Omar Sharif has proven that, despite his 72 years, he is not a man to be trifled with. The Egyptian actor is currently filming One Night With The King alongside the iconic Irish actor Peter O'Toole.
But a dinner with co-star John Noble, who also appeared as the Steward of Gondor in The Lord Of The Rings, took a turn for the worse when the two found themselves unable to agree. According to witnesses, several punches were thrown before Omar grabbed a small table lamp and hit his colleague in the face with it. The incident comes just a few months after he was given a one-month suspended sentence for head-butting a police officer in Paris. |
