Adrien, who was looking characteristically stylish in head-to-toe black, played host for the evening when automotive giants General Motors launched a new runabout that is being described as "the ultimate bling bling ride".

Top model Rachel Hunter also went along to the event, which was staged to promote the new Cadillac Escalade. Manufacturers are hoping the imposing vehicle, which has an impressive 6.2-litre engine, will soon be ferrying the A-list's biggest names to and from red carpet events.

"When you're selling luxury vehicles, you're not just selling transportation," affirmed boss Jim Taylor. "You're selling fashion and you're selling image." His guests at the exclusive soiree, who are all well-known for their fondness of expensive cars, would no doubt agree with the executive. GM may find it a little more difficult to win favour among environmentally conscious Hollywood stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, though, as the Escalade only manages 17 miles to the gallon.
