Despite having made her name as one of Hollywood's most sought-after leading ladies, Charlize Theron is not the type of girl to forget her roots. The Oscar-winning actress, who originally hails from South Africa, played host to a roll call of her Tinseltown friends when she took centre stage at a fundraising event for impoverished children in her homeland.
With her trademark blonde locks in a classic Twenties-style do and a figure-hugging chiffon dress with gold detailing making the most of her curves, the 30-year-old looked every inch a silver screen siren. Her fellow film star Lindsay Lohan went for a rather more contemporary look, with a white satin suit, while glamorous heiress Ivanka Trump was sporting a layered affair in lemon.
Charlize was hosting the glitzy fundraiser on behalf of her charity African Outreach, which helps vulnerable children and their families in remote parts of South Africa. The acclaimed performer, who was accompanied to the bash by her Irish beau Stuart Townsend, grew up in the rural town Benoni. And ever since making her name in the movie industry, she has worked tirelessly to help the less-fortunate members of her home country's population. "I will always speak out," said the Aeon Flux star. "We have a beautiful country - the most beautiful I have seen." Among the other A-listers who turned out to show their support for the event were Nicole Richie and Jamie Foxx.
