He's had a turbulent few months after the end of the World Cup, but David Beckham was all smiles as he joined the next generation of footballing wonderkids at his soccer academy in Greenwich on Monday. The dad-of-three enjoyed a fun coaching session with some of his young fans as he launched his latest book, Make It Real.

The kids at his South London based footie school had stars in their eyes as the former England captain showed them his legendary moves on the pitch, which he has now immortalised in his new soccer skills book.

Earlier in the day the fashion-conscious 31-year-old cut a typically stylish figure in a black leather jacket and flat cap as he arrived for an interview with Radio One DJ Chris Moyles. During the show the Real Madrid midfielder revealed his heartache over being dropped from the England squad by new coach Steve McClaren.

"He called me when I was getting on a plane to America," he said. "It was out of the blue... I was angry and disappointed when I got off the phone. It surprised me, I was gutted. Playing for England meant everything to me."

Becks, who has been capped 94 times by England since making his debut at 21, still hopes to play for his country again, but expressed doubts that it will happen. "If I was a betting man then I wouldn't bet on me playing again, but I really want to," he explained. "I'm doing it for myself more than anything."

On a happier note, the Spain-based player revealed his wife gives him a thrill when she dons his club's soccer strip. "Victoria looks great in my kit... It doesn't get much better than that" he said. He also added that the famous duo try to keep a normal family life. "Victoria's up every morning. She gets the kids ready, I'm the one that takes them. People are surprised that we get up and take our kids to school, but I love doing it."
