As F1's fastest cars battled for supremacy in the most glamorous of Grand Prix races with Monaco's yacht-filled harbour providing a stunning backdrop, there were also plenty of opportunities for spotting the rich and famous at play.

Geri Halliwell chose the occasion to introduce her dashing new boyfriend Henry Beckwith, the cousin of HELLO! columnist Tamara Beckwith. The couple recently enjoyed a romantic ski break together in France, but this was the first time the aristocrat had joined his children's author love at a social event.

The Spice Girl and her guy looked supremely relaxed, holding hands and mingling with fellow celebs like CSI investigator Gary Dourdan, James Blunt and Peaches Geldof, who'd just come from being hosted by Elton's partner David Furnish in Cannes.

In fact Geri, looking sassy in a graphic print mini-dress and towering wedge heels, was clearly in her element sharing one of her passions with her hunky companion.

After seeing Jenson Button clinch first place at the race, the 36-year-old explained: "I love fast cars. I’m a bit of a speed freak. I’m really proud of Jenson Button – he’s had a bit of a journey."

The fixture also attracted royalty, represented by Princess Beatrice, who was enjoying a date weekend with her beau Dave Clark. An interest in Formula One seems to run in her family; last year her mother Sarah treated her close friend, Norwegian millionaire Geir Frantzen to an exhilarating day out at Silverstone.
