The judges at the Fifi awards – considered the Oscars of the perfume world - accorded Paris Hilton's scent the title of best celebrity fragrance at a star-studded ceremony this week.

Their decision seemed to go right over Dustin Hoffman's head as he was keen on promoting his own favourite scent – his wife Lisa Gottsegen's god-given smell.

"I fell in love with her natural fragrance years ago," said the veteran actor, emphasising his point by leaning in to sniff her neck .

Paris, the night's winner for her Fairy Dust fragrance, wasn't at all put out as she celebrated with her parents, and boyfriend, sportsman turned-reality show star Doug Reinhardt.

Still buzzing about the evening hours later she used her Twitter page to compliment Sean 'Diddy' Combs, the champion in the men's cologne category, saying: "Congrats Diddy! You rock!".

She also had words of praise for singer Queen Latifah, whom, she described as "looking stunning".

The American socialite and businesswoman tapped into the magic of children's fairytales for Fairy Dust, a blend of pink peonies and orange blossom. In the memorable ad campaign she took on the persona of Peter Pan character Tinker Bell.
