Ann Widdecombe slips her dancing shoes back on for 'Strictly Come Dancing' final

17 DECEMBER 2010

She had vowed never to dance again. But luckily for the viewers of Strictly Come Dancing, Ann Widdecombe has had a change of heart.

The 63-year-old fans' favourite was back in the dance studio this week with her professional partner Anton Du Beke to rehearse a special group dance with all the other Strictly contestants.

Pictures of the former politician practising her moves with Anton have been released – and it looks like the pair are reaching for the skies with at least one lift in their routine.

Ann – who left the competition two weeks ago – will be performing alongside fellow celebs including Patsy Kensit and Felicity Kendal on Saturday night's final.

The ultimate episode will see TV presenter Matt Baker take on EastEnders actress Kara Tointon and Pamela Stephenson for the Strictly Come Dancing title.

Kara, 27, has suffered a setback this week, having been struck down with a bout of flu.

Writing on her Twitter page, the frustrated brunette wrote: "I'm a zombie!!! Lol. Brain shutting down. God damn x"

Thanks to her popularity with the viewers, Ann survived nine weeks in the competition despite receiving consistently low scores from the judges.

But she insists it was right that she left the show when she did.

"I knew we were going out because we were the only two left who weren’t up to the standards of the other," she said.

"I'm a bit disappointed. But you've got very, very, very top notch high-performing dancers, for heaven's sake, I'm still trying to do one, two, three."

Currently Countryfile presenter Matt is favourite to win this year's show with odds of 8/15.

Kara is second favourite with 7/4 odds and Pamela is the outsider with 15/2.
