All you need is love: Nancy Shevell prepares for life as Mrs Paul McCartney

09 MAY 2011

It's official - Nancy Shevell is all set to walk down the aisle with Paul McCartney.

Following confirmation of the proposal from a spokesperson, the brunette businesswoman has been spotted wearing a huge diamond engagement ring while shopping in New York.

Music legend Paul, 68, reportedly proposed to Nancy in his Big Apple apartment a few weeks ago, after a meal of ravioli cooked by his new fiancée – she has embraced vegetarianism since being with the star.

She chose not to wear the ring when she stepped out to the MET gala last week to avoid publicity, a move entirely in keeping with Nancy's understated approach to the romance.

Indeed the nuptials are set to be a modest affair.

The bride is said to be determined to have a simple wedding – pencilled in for late this summer - held in her holiday home in the Hamptons, with just a small gathering of friends and family in attendence.

Nancy's romance with Beatles star Paul began with a few low-key meetings in the summer of 2007, following his separation from second wife, Heather Mills.

She is said to be 'happy' for the pair, saying that she has "only hears good things" about the New Yorker, 51, from her daughter with Paul, seven-year-old Beatrice.

Friends of the musician, meanwhile, are delighted by the news of his impending marriage to Nancy, who has a teenage son Arlen from her 20-year marriage to lawyer Bruce Blakeman.

One told a British newspaper: "When you spend time with them together is absolutely clear they dote on each other.

"They couldn't be closer. The relationship is obviously for keeps and they are settled and happy."
