Demi glams up for charity do... but where's Ashton?

08 JUNE 2011

All eyes were on Demi Moore as she stepped out at a charity event in New York on Tuesday night.

She looked effortlessly glam in a plunging black gown. Of that there was no question.

But celeb watchers may have been wondering where her husband Ashton Kutcher was.

The couple have rarely been seen together this year – the last red carpet bash event they attended was a fundraiser for their joint campaign against child sex slavery.

That was in April, then last month there were pictures of them looking strained as they left a hotel in New York after Demi stepped out at the Met Ball alone.

Of course, a few solo appearances doesn't necessarily point to trouble in paradise. But there has been a shift in the tone and content of the couple's Twitter accounts.

In the past, both the stars frequently mentioned their other half, and hardly a week went by without one of them posting pictures of each other.

But this has petered out in the past few months – they now hardly mention each other at all on the social blogging site.

Ashton's absence this week could easily be put down to the fact he was on presenting duty at the MTV Awards on Sunday night.

It could be that he didn't want to make the six-hour trip from LA to the Big Apple and face the jet lag that goes with it.

He may have also had meetings about his new role in Two and a Half Men, which he begins filming in the summer in LA.

Whatever the reason, if Demi was missing her man, she didn't show it – putting on her best smile for the cameras.

The actress was joined by Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony at a fundraiser for Hope for Children.
