Marc was uncomfortable with Jennifer's 'sex symbol' status

21 JULY 2011

Since they announced their split last week, music stars Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have  faced rumours about the cause of the break up.

And the most recent is that Marc was not keen on his wife’s sexy outfits.

Onlookers often commented on how happy and harmonious they looked during public appearances together. But apparently behind the scenes he was uncomfortable with her sex symbol status.

Reports in the US media suggested that he wanted the diva to cover up a little more, with a source saying: “He likes her to dress in a demure, 'wife' style.

"He hated the fact that she was a sex symbol.”

Another source recalled that the salsa king tried to influence her decisions over clothing when she took part in a photo shoot last year.

He is said to have objected to a particular photograph that he found “too sexy and unbecoming for a 40-year-old mother of two”.

Some have also commented that his lower profile may have caused tension between the pair.

But that's unlikely. With two Grammys, three Latin Grammys, and 30 million album sales under his belt, Marc is the top selling tropical salsa artist of all time and is very successful in his own right.

More credence can be given to the idea that his “controlling” ways rocked the mariage.

“Marc has always been a very dominating husband,” another source said. “He wants to control everything Jennifer does.”

Her friend and stylist Phillip Bloch said that in the beginning she liked that "because he stood up to her". Ultimately, though, it became an issue.
