Inside the majestic palace where Spain's wealthiest aristrocat will marry

She's been to see the king of Spain to seek his blessing and her six children are gathering in Seville ahead of her wedding.

With just days to go, the fabulously wealthy Duchess of Alba's union with a family friend, 24 years her junior, is the talk of her country.

The intimate ceremony will take place in the magnificent Dueñas Palace, which has belonged to her family since the 17th century.

With more titles than the Queen and a fortune of £3bn, 85-year-old Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart  - a descendant of Britain's Stuart dynasty - is Spain's premiere aristocrat

On their marriage, her groom Alfonso Diez, 61, will become the duke consort

Alfonso follows in the steps of her two late husbands, Luis Martinez de Irujo and Jesus Aguirre, both of whom shared this magnificent Renaissance palace with her

It’s only one of a vast collection of estates which is now divided between her six children and eight grandchildren – a recent step taken to win the clan's approval

The palace, built between the XV and XVI century, comprises 9,542 square metres and has the family crest on the archway to the entrance

In this chapel, underneath a painting of the Virgen Mary by Renaissance artist Neri di Bici, the deeply religious duchess will marry her third husband

On the walls of the salon that connects the chapel and the gardens, hang more priceless works of art, some of which date back to 1600

In all, some 1,500 pieces are in the opulent edifice which has been the setting for numerous family weddings and baptisms

Weather permitting, the newlyweds will be toasted at a wedding breakfast in this courtyard by guests including her surgeon and famous bullfighter Curro Jimenez

After the nuptials, Cayetana's new consort will move into the main building from the annex he has occupied until now
