Demi gets up to some serious monkey business on 49th birthday

11 NOVEMBER 2011

The stress of the last few months has clearly not dented Demi Moore's sense of fun.

A few hours shy of turning 49, the actress tweeted a picture of her getting the party started with the help of a furry visitor – a real life monkey.

The cheeky chappy looked like he was making himself at home, perching on her shoulder and playing with purse monkey – the stuffed toy Demi takes out to premieres.

The caption accompanying the fun photo read: "My birthday starts with a bang & some serious monkey business, pursemonkey may never be the same!"

There was no sign, or mention of the star's husband Ashton Kutcher.

Of course, it could just be that he's keen to maintain his self-imposed Twitter silence.

The Two And A Half Men star has handed over control of his account to his management after a misinformed tweet landed him in trouble.

After finding out that the Penn State University football team's head coach, Joe Paterno, had been sacked he posted:

"How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye [the Penn State football team] fan I find it in poor taste."

Unfortunately though, Ashton was unaware that the head coach had been let go after it was revealed that he had covered up a sexual assault by a former coach.

After a barrage of complaints from his followers and other Twitter users, the actor realised his mistake and instantly deleted the comment and issued an apology.

"As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case," he said

Ashton and Demi's marriage has been under scrutiny ever since claims surfed he had been unfaithful.

The pair have rarely been photographed together since, though they were both pictured separately this week in California wearing their wedding rings.

Why defiant Demi is a true Hollywood survivor
