Handgun was 'a toy' confirms Pippa's friend

18 APRIL 2012

Pippa Middleton made headlines during her stay in Paris to attend a lavish 18th century-themed fancy dress birthday party.

The younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge was in France at the invitation of her friend, Vicomte Arthur de Soultrait, when she was photographed in the passenger seat of a car beside another pal brandishing what appeared to be a handgun.

But a spokesman for the French clothing company owned by the Vicomte, told the press the gun in question was, in fact, a fake.

Aymeric de Drouas said it was a toy being used in “a game” with paparazzi who trailed them the entire weekend.

The driver of the car has since been named by a newspaper as Paris lawyer Romain Rabillard, who is now said to be “lying low”.

He was just one a number of eligible young men who squired the pretty party planner during her hop across the Channel.

Pippa was also seen stepping out to dinner a restaurant hand-in-hand with Antoine de Tavernost, the wealthy son of the chairman of a TV station.
