The Boss' moving dedication to fan who died days before concert

18 JUNE 2012

There was a particularly emotional moment during Bruce Springsteen's Madrid concert on Sunday night when the singer dedicated a song to a fan who had passed away days before the gig.

Nacho Hurtado was a keen supporter of 'The Boss' and had been looking forward to seeing his idol in concert with his girlfriend, after being given tickets for his birthday by his parents.

But the youngster from Majorca sadly passed away, aged 20, on June 7 after losing his battle with cancer.

A campaign was launched on Twitter asking Bruce to dedicate a song to Nacho, and word must have reached the 62-year-old singer.

The musician spoke to the thousands of spectators at Bernabeu stadium in Spanish, telling them: "We want to dedicate this song to Nacho and his family. He is in our prayers."

He then launched into his song The River - an emotional ballad that deals with lost hopes and dreams and features a haunting harmonica part.

There were huge cheers from the audience, and a few tears too from those who were familiar with Nacho's sad story.
