¡HOLA! Chile - our latest launch gets Santiago stirred up

03 OCTOBER 2012

The first issue of ¡HOLA! Chile hit the stands on Wednesday (October 4, 2012), bringing to 24 the number of international editions that Spain's best-known celebrity magazine publishes around the world.

The 200-page inaugural issue, an eclectic mix of the Latin American nation's rich and famous, and international stars, was launched at a party in downtown Santiago in the Chilean capital's Museo de Bellas Artes.

The launch met with massive media interest and early predictions indicated the initial print-run of 20,000 would be sold out within days.

¡HOLA! Chile is published in conjunction with the Chilean media corporation COPESA which currently runs six radio stations, several magazines and newspapers, including the prestigious La Tercera.

Editor Lorena Valenzuela said: "The magazine will present a whole world of new and familar faces but in a different way from other magazines because we do it with respect - which is the hallmark of the magazine.

¡HOLA! Chile will reflect who we are and who are the people who make up our society."

¡HOLA! Chile is the ninth ¡HOLA! magazine to be launched in Spanish and the eighth to be published in Latin America with a combined readership of 1,500,000.

Other Spanish-speaking countries where it is produced include: Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Puerto Rico.

HELLO!, ¡HOLA!'s sister brand, is published in the UK, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, Canada, Greece, Thailand, Malaysia, Bulgaria, India and Pakistan. Global readership is a staggering 15 million.

The first issue of ¡HOLA! Chile carried an exclusive story on a famous interior decorator and Chilean socialite who was photographed in his home for the first time with his daughters.

Other stories included a shoot at the home of a Chilean businessman who runs the only Spanish horse dressage school outside Europe.

The ¡HOLA! publishing group was founded in 1944 by Antonio Sanchez Gomez, the grandfather of the current Editor-in-Chief Eduardo Sanchez Perez.
