Twenty-seven-year-old Thom – who was born in Zimbabwe - is a former team-mate of Kelly's ex Danny Cipriani. The two men played for the London Wasps from 2004 – 2006 together. Unfortunately, Thom's rugby career came to an early end after a spinal injury which he sustained during a Rugby Union match last year. He was hospitalised – and almost paralysed after colliding with another player in February 2010. After a series of operations he decided to retire from the game five months later.
