Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson announce they are expecting first child

19 FEBRUARY 2013

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall and Wild At Heart actress Lucy-Jo Hudson have announced that they are expecting their first child.

Tweeting the news that Lucy-Jo, whom Alan married in 2009, is three months pregnant, Alan said: "My wife Lucy-Jo Hudson & I are very excited to announce that we are expecting our 1st child. We are both over the moon."

Although she did not make an official annoucement herself, Wild At Heart actress Lucy-Jo said she was "overwhelmed" by the messages of support.

"Awww you guys are so lovely! Like I'm not emotional enough, haha thankyou for your beautiful messages!" said the 29-year-old wrote on Twitter.

"Alan and I are so excited. I can't wait to be a mummy."

The couple announced their happy news on the eve of Lucy-Jo's 12-week scan, although celebrity pal Amanda Holden had been keeping tight-lipped about the information for some time.

"Lucy-Jo Hudson and Alan Halsall, I'm so happy you can finally share your news!!!!!! You know we love you both and can't wait to meet that bundle," tweeted the Britain's Got Talent judge.

Fellow Coronation Street star Craig Charles also offered the pair congratulations, although his sentiments came with a warning.

"If the baby looks like me, don't take it badly," joked the actor.

The past few months have undoubtedly been a whirlwind for Alan, who has walked the cobbles as Tryone Dobbs for 15 years.

In January, he was was honoured with a Best Actor gong at the National Television Awards for his portrayal of a domestic abuse victim in the soap's suspense-filled storyline.

Alan can also credit the soap for his domestic bliss, he met Lucy-Jo in 2002, when she joined the cast as Katy Hariss, a role she played for three years.
