Fearne Cotton 'beyond in love' after welcoming her first baby

21 FEBRUARY 2013

Fearne Cotton has welcomed her first child into the world. The Radio 1 DJ and her partner Jesse Wood are now the proud parents of a little boy named Rex Rayne Wood.

Fearne, 31, made the happy announcement via Twitter on Thursday morning. "Jesse and I are over the moon to announce the arrival of Rex Rayne Wood born on the 21.2.13," she wrote at 7.35. "Beyond in love".

One of the first people to congratulate the couple was Capital FM presenter Dave Berry, who wrote, "@Fearnecotton @WoodJesse Congratulations my lovers x".

Fellow DJ Nick Grimshaw couldn't contain his excitement. "YAYYY! CONGRATZZZ!," he tweeted.

Thousands of Fearne's followers have also shared their best wishes with the couple.

There were big celebrations on This Morning, with Phillip Schofield starting the show by announcing, "We have a new viewer!"

His smiling co-host Holly Willoughby, Fearne's best friend, added, "We do! A very special new viewer called Rex Rayne Wood - Fearne Cotton gave birth at 38 minutes past midnight this morning. Congratulations to her!

"I don't know what she's doing right now, she's probably in a little bubble of baby heaven. I love you. I hope it was ok - I don't even know what happened yet! When I got in last night, the text was there."

"Well, we've got a good idea of what probably happened!" quipped Phillip.

"Oh I know," replied Holly. "But you know what it's like, you want to know the whole story… I hope she's ok."

Fearne and Jesse, son of Rolling Stones star Ronnie, have been dating since 2011. They announced they were expecting a baby together back in August.

"Jesse and I have some news," Fearne tweeted before posting a link to a statement on her website that read, "Jesse and I are very happy to announce we are having a baby.

"We are over the moon, morning sickness aside (me, not Jess) and looking forward to the little Cotton Woods arrival."

Speaking shortly after making the announcement, the popular presenter said being pregnant meant she was "trying to take it easy for the first time ever".

"Normally I live at a hundred miles an hour so I never get to see any of my friends," she told Company. "This year I'm not doing loads. Instead I'm going to see all of my friends, family and boyfriend and just try and have a bit more of a life."

Jesse is also a proud dad to two children from his previous marriage, Arthur and Lola.
