Brad Pitt whisks birthday girl Angelina Jolie off for romantic celebrations in Paris

04 JUNE 2013

Brad Pitt whisked Angelina Jolie off for a romantic dinner in Paris on Monday night, the eve of her 38th birthday.

The Hollywood couple made the most of being in the City of Light after the French premiere of Brad's latest film World War Z, going out without their six-strong brood.

Angelina looked stunning in a chic black Yves Saint Laurent suit she had worn on the red carpet as she held hands with her fiancé, positively beaming on the eve of her birthday. The pair, who looked happy and very much in love, went for dinner at Il Vino's Italian restaurant before moving on to a party at Silencioso's nightclub.

Brad and Angelina's date night in Paris comes after the revelation that the actress, 37, recently underwent a double mastectomy to vastly reduce her chances of getting breast cancer.

The brunette beauty appears to have bounced back to full health after three months of surgery, which involved the removal of breast tissue and replacement with implants, which she shared in a powerful article written for the New York Times in May.

On Sunday, London's Leicester Square rang out with applause and cheers as Angelina made her first public appearance since revealing the news.

Clearly moved by the warm reception she received, the mum of six appeared at times close to tears. On the red carpet, she told reporters, "I feel great. I feel wonderful," and paid tribute to her long-term partner for his love and support.

"He's been extraordinary," said Angelina, who chose to speak out last month to raise awareness of breast cancer. "He's such a wonderful man and a wonderful father, and I'm very, very lucky."

Brad, 49, who has stood at Angelina’s side throughout the trying experience, put it simply: "I mean the beautiful thing is that, for us, life will go on."
