12 JUNE 2013

Nicole Richie showed the world that she is a daddy's girl at heart, posting a picture of her receiving an affectionate kiss on the cheek from dad Lionel Richie.

Nicole, 31, smiles coyly in the picture posted on photo-sharing site Instagram, looking gorgeous in a bright yellow hat and matching top.

In the latest edition of her AOL webseries based on her popular Twitter feed, Candidly Nicole, the fashion maven spends the day with her father, who she calls L-Train, and her 14-year-old sister Sofia.

She also posted a photo of the two girls posing together, with Nicole's arm wrapped around her little sister's shoulder.

The pair bond with their dad in his garden, enjoying one of the Grammy winner's main passions outside of singing and performing, gardening.

"We're just gardening with him because that's what he likes to do in his free time and we're trying to throw him a bone and be nice because it's Father's Day," Nicole quips.

While spending time planting roses with her dad, 63, and her younger sister, Nicole shows off her witty sense of humour, which has won her over four million followers on Twitter and made her a social media star.

"You have so much energy for an old person," she says to her singer dad. "I'm so tired."

She goes on to quiz Lionel, who is a guest on the show, checking his knowledge on facts such as their middle names, when their birthdays are and who he loves the most out of his two daughters.

Finally, Nicole rounds off the Father's Day episode by handing a gift to her dad. The present is a framed picture of her dog Iro, as Nicole jokes that Lionel only has pictures in his home of his pets.
