Inside Rihanna's epic New Year's Eve party with Cara Delevingne

02 JANUARY 2014 Rihanna started 2014 the way she means to go on with an "epic party". The Bajan pop pin up kept instagram followers in the loop with celebrations at her New York penthouse where guests included Cara Delevingne.

An attentive host, she personally oversaw the last minute touches to the food in the kitchen despite being smartly dressed in a sharp white blazer, matching silk trousers and a basque top.

Riri teamed her look with hot pink heels, retro curls and a slick of fuchsia lipstick, later adding a jewel encrusted headband and huge fur coat. Pictures showed the songstress tucking into her meal with her friends and also doing the British model's hair.

She had advised followers via Twitter to up their sartorial game. "Fellaz, this is your night to dress like gentlemen! The ladies wanna be impressed!! Ladies, y'all already know what to do..." she posted.

Also on hand were her assistant Jennifer Rosales and her close childhood friend Melissa Forde.

After dinner at the singer's luxury home the group headed for her mentor Jay Z's nightclub 40/40, where a poster advertising her presence declared: "Riri is taking over".

Under one picture of the festivities the 25-year-old wrote: "Epic night or nah? We partied like we ain't party all year! lol #2014."

Cara also made it clear that some high jinks had gone on by posting a picture of a hangover remedy.

The pair had jetted into the Big Apple from Barbados where they spent Christmas with their respective families. Cara was on the Caribbean island with her parents and older sister Poppy, who was accompanied by her fiancé James Cook.

The Burberry beauty posted fun snaps of herself and her relatives wearing festive antler headgear. She also showed off a new tattoo that says: "Don't worry be happy."
