Chris Brown supported by girlfriend Karrueche Tran at progress hearing

04 FEBRUARY 2014 Attending a progress hearing this week for an assault charge he is facing, Chris Brown had support in the form of his girlfriend Karrueche Tran.

The R&B star - who is still on probation for attacking his former girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 - was accompanied to court in downtown LA by his petite partner, who held his hand as the pair made their way inside.

Chris was told he would avoid going to jail as long as he met the condition of staying in rehab.

Prosecution had called for him to be incarcerated and for a full probation violation hearing to take place over an alleged altercation with a man in Washington DC last October.

However, Superior Court Judge James R Brandlin turned down the motion, citing the rapper's continued good behaviour and progress in a rehabilitation programme as the reason.

The 24-year-old has completed 191 of 1,000 hours of community labour he was set after being found in violation of his probation whereby he didn't properly exchange details after a car crash last year.

During the hearing it was also noted how the music star"'appears to have a more serious and responsible demeanour" since checking into rehab.

He must return to court on 28 February to give the judge an update on his progress.

No doubt Chris' model girlfriend Karrueche will be there, supporting him every step of the way.

The beauty recently told how though Chris lavishes her with gifts, it's the simple things that really make her happy.

"He's bought me a lot of valuable things, but one time he set up a little, special dinner for us," Karrueche told YouTube channel Montreality. "I like to do things like that; that are a little bit more intimate and personal. Stuff that money can't buy."
