Kylie Minogue reveals Pharrell Williams comforted her during split with Andrés Velencoso

12 MARCH 2014 Pop Princess Kylie Minogue has revealed how she found a shoulder to cry on during a particularly bad day last year in the form of Pharrell Williams.

The pair were scheduled to collaborate together on a track. But struggling with her emotions, Kylie felt she couldn't keep the work date.

After a few tears, and heart-to-heart with the hip hop guru on the studio steps, the pair got to work, and recorded I Was Gonna Cancel, which Kylie describes as "the most positive song" on her new album.

The Aussie star made the frank confession during a live Facebook chat about her new album Kiss Me Once, which was conducted by her The Voice co-judge Ricky Wilson.

Last year was a tough year for the 45-year-old, who split with her Spanish model boyfriend Andrés Velencoso.

The photogenic pair called it quits in October last year, citing work pressures as the reason behind the break up.

Kylie was hard at work on her 12th studio album, while Andrés was pursuing his dream of becoming an actor.

After a year of change, Kylie said spending New Year's Eve alone made for "the best I’d ever had” and helped her reflect and enter 2014 calm and confident and ready to try new things.

Her title track from the album, Kiss Me Once, reflected a new state of mind for the pop beauty and her plans “to go into the future with abandon”.

She added: "I had an epiphany, a true epiphany. I thought that I needed to change and do things differently. It was one of the reasons I signed onto The Voice. I didn’t want to do the same things round and round and become a parody of myself. I want to try new experiences."
