Lady Gaga burst on the scene in 2008 with the critically and commercially successful album, The Fame.

Featuring international chart toppers Just Dance and Paparazzi, The Fame slowly rose the charts itself before garnering Lady Gaga her first Grammy awards, for Best Dance/Electronica Album and Best Dance Record for Poker Face.

Later in 2009 Lady Gaga would release an extended version of The Fame called The Fame Monster, which included the hit worldwide smashes Bad Romance, Telephone - a duet with Beyoncé - and Alejandro.

Lady Gaga has since won five Grammy Awards and numerous MTV Music Awards, and has become an advocate for youth empowerment and LGBT rights.

She has spoken publicly of her battles with eating disorders and depression, and has also become a model, working with her friend and fashion designer Donatella Versace.

She has gradually become more known for her outrageous styling, causing a stir at the 2010 MTV Music Awards when she arrived wearing a dress made entirely of raw meat. She was later named one of Vogue UK’s Best Dressed People of 2010.
