Happy birthday, Sir Paul McCartney: See his star sign and your horoscope

18 JUNE 2014

Happy birthday, Sir Paul McCartney! As the music superstar turns 72, HELLO! Online take a look at what the stars have in store for Paul and you...

'Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you.' So goes the old Irving Berlin song from the musical, Annie Get Your Gun. This great songwriter neatly summarised many of the simplest, yet most profound emotions that people experience from time to time. Yet in a way, the antagonistic, argumentative tone of that song says plenty about the consequence of indulging this particular, competitive urge. You really don't need to prove a point today. You need to build a bridge and heal a wound.

Read your horoscope for today.

Sir Paul McCartney in 2014

Sir Paul McCartney is one of the music world's most beloved stars, a former Beatle who went on to have a successful solo career and become an international activist for animal rights.

Born in 1942 in Liverpool, Sir Paul was 15 when he met John Lennon and his band, the Quarrymen, who played a mix of skiffle music and rock and roll. The band soon invited Paul to join them and by 1960 the band had become the Beatles.

By 1964 Beatlemania had spread across the globe, and as the decade progressed the Beatles began to adopt an experimental attitude towards their music, heading away from the pop rock of the early decade and into something much more alternative.

The Beatles disbanded in 1970 but they remain widely regarded as the most influential British rock group of all time. After the split Sir Paul continued his music career, first with solo music and later as a member of the band Wings.

In the following years the music icon tried his hand at collaborations with big names such as Michael Jackson, a failed attempt at a musical, and working with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and he has often been the star headliner at events such as the 2005 Superbowl Halftime Show, and the Live 8 concert.

Sir Paul was married to wife Linda for nearly 30 years before she sadly passed away in 1998 due to breast cancer. The couple had four children together. He remarried in 2002 to Heather Mills and the pair had one daughter together before divorcing in 2006.

The musician is now married to Nancy Shevell.
