Ellie Goulding and Dougie Poynter enjoy a rare date night at London's trendiest restaurant

25 JUNE 2014 Ellie Goulding and Dougie Poynter made a rare public appearance this week as they headed out for a date night at the Chiltern Firehouse.

The pop star couple held hands as they made their way inside London's hippest restaurant, proving that their romance is still very much on track as they stepped into the spotlight together.

Ellie, 27, chose a all-black ensemble for dinner with her boyfriend, looking elegant but understated in leather trousers and a vest top.

McBusted bassist Dougie, meanwhile, chose a tropical printed shirt, skinny jeans and a hat.

The couple were certainly in good company at the Marylebone eatery. Other diners walking through the door of the restaurant on Tuesday evening included newlywed Poppy Delevingne and Princess Beatrice.

After months of speculation, Dougie, 26, finally confirmed his romance with the Burn singer last month.

Speaking to Fearne Cotton during the ITV2 documentary Fearne and McBusted, he finally put an end to the rumours when asked whether he was in a relationship with Ellie.

"Yeah. All is good in that area," he shyly confirmed.

Ellie, meanwhile, opened up about their romance in a recent interview with Self magazine.

"I've definitely met someone," she said. "You get to know someone who makes you very happy and then you go away (on tour), right when it was getting awesome. It's not fun but we can make it work.

"Love is beyond everything," she added. "Beyond the universe."

In the past Ellie has dated American electronics musician Skrillex and Ed Sheeran, while Dougie previously dated Frankie Sandford of The Saturdays.
