50cent-

American rapper, entrepreneur, investor, and actor, 50 Cent was born in New York City as Curtis Jackson.

He began rapping at the age of 21 and was soon introduced to Jam Master Jay of Run–D.M.C, who taught Jackson how to count bars, write choruses, structure songs, and create a record.

In 2000 50 Cent was shot outside his home in an act that would change him forever. In his autobiography he wrote: "I started to think that I must have a purpose in life... How much more damage could that shell have done? Give me an inch in this direction or that one, and I'm gone."

His first album came out in 2003 to commercial success after Eminem heard his demos and asked him to fly to meet in Los Angeles. The lead single In Da Club was a huge hit internationally.

His second album stayed at the number one spot for six weeks in the United States, and he became the first solo artist to have three singles on the Billboard top five in the same week with Candy Shop, Disco Inferno, and How We Do.

The second wealthiest rapper after Jay-Z, 50 Cent is also a philanthropist who aims to provide food for one billion starving people in Africa by 2016 through his charity drink, Street King.
