Justin Bieber is headed to anger management classes

10 JULY 2014

Justin Bieber has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanour vandalism charge for throwing eggs at his neighbour's home back in January.

On Wednesday, the pop star's attorney entered the plea deal – which is subject to several strict conditions being met.

As well as sentencing him to two years' probation, California's court ordered Justin, 20, to pay $80,900 (£47,160) in damages, serve five days of community service and complete an anger management programme. He was not present in court for the arraignment.

"Justin is glad to get the matter resolved and behind him," a spokesperson for the singer said in a statement. "He will continue to move forward focusing on his career and his music."

Justin had been under investigation for the egg-throwing incident since the start of the year, when his neighbour in Calabasas alleged that he had caused around £20,000 of damages.

Shortly afterwards, police raided the star's home looking for evidence – one of Justin's friends was arrested on drug possession charges as a result of that search.

Justin – who has since moved from Calabasas to Beverly Hills – has had his fair share of run-ins with the law this year.

He was charged with driving under the influence and driving without a valid licence in Miami, also in January – that trial is scheduled to begin later this month. Meanwhile, in Toronto he faces allegations that he assaulted a limousine driver in December.
