Katie Holmes gets in touch with her inner rebel at New York fashion event

05 SEPTEMBER 2014 Just last month, Katie Holmes revealed she didn't have any tattoos, saying with a laugh, "My child would kill me!" The actress wasn't averse to trying out a temporary inking this week though, as she returned to the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week.

Katie, 35, was seen getting a stick-on tattoo as she attended an event sponsored by Old Navy as part of their Spring 2015 runway show.

Lifting her hair out of the way, Katie showed a big smile as the transfer was applied. She then posed for a picture, showing off the intricate gold design that started at the nape of her neck and went down her spine.

Katie was obviously pleased with the result; shortly afterwards, she was seen getting another tattoo on her left forearm.

The star looked elegant but casual for her New York outing, in a striped blue and white shirt, jeans and heels.

It would have been a welcome return to the city for the mum-of-one, who recently relocated with her daughter Suri Cruise from the Chelsea neighbourhood of Manhattan to a $3.79million home in Calabasas, California.

Ohio-born Katie moved to New York following her split from Tom Cruise in 2012. It is thought she decided to leave the city last month to help further her career, and also because she feels LA is a better place to raise her eight-year-old daughter.

She will certainly miss her old stomping ground though. "I love being able to experience so many cultural things in one day," she previously said of living in New York.

"I live very close to the gallery district, and then at night I'll find myself at Lincoln Center at a ballet. I love going to Knicks games. And I love taking the subway."
