Kelly Osbourne breaks her silence on Fashion Police exit

Kelly Osbourne has spoken for the first time about her exit from Fashion Police - and has nothing but good things to say about her five-year run. Kelly appeared alongside her mum Sharon Osbourne on US chat show The Talk on Tuesday, and was asked about her sudden departure. "You know what, it was the five best working years of my life," the 30-year-old said. "I am so grateful for the experience."

The TV star went on to praise her late mentor and co-host Joan Rivers, who was recently replaced on the show by comedian Kathy Griffin. "Working with Joan Rivers for five years was incredible," Kelly commented. "I learned so much. I'm excited for my future now. I want to try new things." The E! network announced at the end of February that Kelly was ending her run on the show after four seasons to "pursue other opportunities". Her exit came in the wake of controversy surrounding her Fashion Police co-host Giuliana Rancic, who made "outrageously offensive" comments about Zendaya’s Oscars red carpet look on the show.

Zendaya, the 18-year-old star of Disney movie Frenemies, wore dreadlocks to the ceremony, promoting Giuliana to comment that she must have smelled of “patchouli” and “weed”. The teen star responded on Twitter, suggesting the comments were racially charged, and Giuliana was forced to apologise for her remarks. Amid the controversy, Kelly – a friend of Zendaya – initially tweeted, "I will not be dragged into this. The situation is being rectified like ADULTS by both parties. I hope you can leave it to them & do the same!" In another tweet, she continued, "I'm giving everyone involved 24 hours to make it right or the world will hear how I really feel. Contractually I'm not allowed to speak!" Inaccurate reports that she might have been the one to make the comment appeared to be the last straw for the star. "I do not condone racism so as a result of this I'm seriously questioning staying on the show!" she told followers.
