Andrew Ridgeley, one half of Wham!, has made the surprising revelation that he and his long-term partner Keren Woodward secretly split after 25 years – but then reconciled after a change of heart.

The 52-year-old singer, who met his former pop star girlfriend in the late eighties, started dating Keren in 1990. The couple moved to Cornwall to live the quiet life, a few years after Wham! disbanded in 1986.

"It was hard for a while but all is well," the Wham! singer said of his relationship

"We split up but we are through those difficulties now and it is all ancient history," Andrew told The Sunday Mirror. "It's safe to say that things are good and we are very happy now. I don't really like to talk about my private life much but we have worked through everything."

He added: "It's great now, it was hard for a while but all is well. It's all in the past now."

The Wake Me Up Before You Go Go singer and his partner Keren, who was part of the girl band Bananarama, quit the London scene and decided to move to a 15th century Cornish farm house, where they still live now.

Andrew Ridgeley and Keren Woodward swapped London for Cornwall

Speaking previously in 2009, Keren, who has a son from a previous relationship, opened up about their country life.

"Our life in Cornwall is really quiet," she told the Daily Mail. "We go to the pub and no one bothers us. Even when George [Michael] comes to visit, he isn't hassled. You can be normal if you choose to be. I have always found fame embarrassing, I still do."

"He enjoys the anonymity that he has," the Bristol-born singer added of her partner Andrew. "He's not bored at all. He surfs, he plays golf."
