Louis Tomlinson's dad Troy Austin was arrested on Tuesday

A family member told The Sun that Troy was depressed after being disowned by friends because of his heavy drinking. Troy was reported missing on Tuesday following a fall-out with his brother over a hotel they own together.

"It's tragic. He's lost all of his friends. They've all disowned him," the source said, adding that it wasn't related to his son Louis, who he hasn't spoken to for three years. "This isn't about Louis. He is drinking heavily."

An old friend of Troy's said: "He used to live with me but I kicked him out because he was drinking so heavily and I was getting over a bereavement. Nobody wants anything to do with him. It's desperately sad."

Louis and his mum Johannah no longer speak to Troy

Louis' father was found in a car in Cantley Park, Doncaster at 6pm on Tuesday. He was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after refusing to provide a breath test and has since been released on unconditional bail until 10 September.

Troy has had a strained relationship with Louis since he split from the singer's mum Johannah, and the pair haven't spoke for three years following an argument. While Troy is Louis' biological father, the 23-year-old adopted the surname of his step-dad Mark Tomlinson when his mum remarried.

The Steal My Girl singer's dad recently tried to reconcile their relationship after it emerged Louis was expecting a baby with celebrity stylist Briana Jungwirth, telling the Daily Mirror: "I'd like to be involved in my grandchild's life. I've missed out on Louis' life and I'd like to make up for that. It's time to heal the rift."
