Their marriage has been subject to speculation for some time. So much so that Will Smith recently felt he had to deny that he was getting a divorce from Jada Pinkett Smith. At the weekend, the former Fresh Prince of Bel Air star again underlined just much he loves his wife with a tender Facebook post celebrating her 44th birthday.

He posted a throwback picture of the couple at her mother's house 20 years ago, telling her: "Of the nearly 3.96 Billion women on the planet – there is only 1 that I want to spend the rest of my life with."

Will also totted up the number of candles he has watched his wife blow out and the times he had told Jada he loves her.

In August the actor used Facebook to address what he described as "foolishness" when people started sympathising with him over the suposed demise of his marriage.

He said: "Under normal circumstances, I don't usually respond to foolishness. (Because it's contagious) But, so many people have extended me their 'deepest condolences' that I figured – 'What the hell… I can be foolish, too!'" he told his 74 million followers.

"So in the interest of redundant, repetitious, over & over-again-ness… Jada and I are… NOT GETTING A DIVORCE !!!!!!!!!!!!! : -)

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith denied divorce rumours in August

"I promise you all – if I ever decided to divorce my Queen – I SWEAR I'll tell you myself!"

Jada also dismissed the speculation on Twitter, writing: "My king has spoken."

The power couple married in 1997 and have two children – 17-year-old Jaden and 14-year-old Willow. They previously issued a strongly worded statement of denial in 2011 after the Magic Mike XXL beauty was falsely linked to Marc Anthony.

Jada insisted that she would never be unfaithful to her husband.

"After you've been with somebody for 20 years, you think there's any room for [jealousy]? He knows he got me on lockdown," she explained on the Today show.

Will's leading lady also revealed the secret to their successful marriage, telling Extra: "Your partner has to be your best, best, friend. And he's my best friend."

Speaking about marriage, she added: "You have to have kind of a warrior mentality. You have to be a soldier for love.

"You have to be able to withstand tough times and just because the tough times come doesn't mean it's time to stop… it means it's time to dig in."
