After two years of being separated, Hilary Duff's divorce from NHL star Mike Comrie is now final. The 28-year-old singer's divorce from the former professional hockey player was established after reaching a financial settlement and agreeing on joint custody of their son.

Hilary filed for divorce on 20 February 2015, citing the reason as irreconcilable differences and seeking sole custody of their three-year-old son Luca Cruz Comrie.

However, when Mike filed his divorce response in an LA superior court, he asked for joint legal and physical custody of their little boy. His request went against Hilary's initial file, which asked for primary custody of Luca, with visitation rights for Mike.

Legal documents, obtained by TMZ, reveal that the pair will co-parent their son, splitting joint physical custody, and adhering to a "mutually-agreed upon" set schedule. Neither parent is receiving child support and they have agreed to split any costs related to their son.

The documents also state how the former couple will split their assets. The actress will keep their Beverly Hills mansion, but will have to pay her ex-husband $2,408,786 for his share of the property. She was also awarded the rest of any previously shared property, while Mike will keep his Bentley coupe and Mercedes G-Class SUV, as well as jewellery.

Although the divorce has been tough for the whole family, Hilary stayed positive when she opened up to People Magazine in April, just months after filing for divorce.

"I went through my highs and lows," the Material Girls star said. "But at the end of the day, I wouldn't change anything. I feel happy. And I'm excited about everything I have."

The mum-of-one, who joined Tinder when she became single, expressed how close her and Mike had remained following the split. "We are a unit and we're going to be a unit for the rest of our lives," the actress said.

"We realised (as a couple) we weren't where we used to be. But I feel so lucky this happened when Luca was young because this is his normal now."
