It will come as little surprise that the 2016 Oscars set social media on fire. The best view of the ceremony came courtesy of the stars themselves, who took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes photos and candid moments from cinema's biggest night.But which photo was the most liked? The top five were from some of Instagram's most followed celebrities, with Lady Gaga taking the top spot. The singer, 29, posted a sweet snapshot of her embracing her fiancé Taylor Kinney, along with a caption celebrating his love for her – "He stood by me all night proud and unashamedly." It proved a big hit with her followers, generating more than 549,000 likes.

In second place was a photo of Oscars host Chris Rock with fellow comedians Kevin Hart and Dave Chappelle, which was liked more than 440,000 likes, while Lady Gaga also claimed the third spot, generating 421,000 likes with a close up photo of her face, taken on the red carpet.Kevin had the fourth most liked photo, with 399,000 people clicking on a photo he shared of himself with his wife ahead of the ceremony. "Sheeeeesssshhh… Dress 2 impress with my partner in crime…!!" he wrote alongside.

Rounding up the top five was a sweet photo of Chrissy Teigen and her husband John Legend. The sweet snapshot, which shows John tenderly placing his hand on Chrissy’s baby bump, proved very popular with Instagram users, bringing in more than 342,000 likes.As for hastags? Four of the top five had to do with the Oscars themselves - #oscars, #oscars2016, #oscar, #academyawards. But number two was #leonardodicaprio, the man who set the record for the most tweeted moment of an Oscars telecast ever. The Revenant star's win generated a huge 440,000 tweets per minute, shattering the previous record of 255,000 tweets per minute set by Ellen DeGeneres' star-studded selfie back in 2014.
