STORY: Liam Payne gushes about fatherhood for the first time during LA outing

The new parents are running out of time to register their son's name. The law in England and Wales states that all babies must be registered within 42 days of birth, meaning the couple have until Wednesday 3 May to get their son legally acknowledged. And since the stars are unmarried, it's imperative that Liam remains in the UK to sign the birth register alongside Cheryl otherwise his details won't be included on the birth certificate. [The UK Gov website also says - "It might be possible to add the father's details at a later date by completing an application for the re-registration of a child’s birth."]

Meanwhile, Liam recently opened up about the joy of fatherhood. During an outing in LA, the 23-year-old spoke to fan Pedro Ramirez about missing his son. "He's great, he's good. I love him and I miss him a lot," he said. Another fan claimed that Liam said his baby boy, whose name is yet to be announced, is "doing well". Earlier this month, social media went into overdrive after Cheryl's hair stylist Daya Ruci shared a Snapchat photo and video of a baby boy. The new mum's stylist captioned the first photo of the baby's hand holding her finger: "Sweetest," before sharing a short clip of the baby's outfit and booties while carefully keeping his face concealed.

Why Cheryl and Liam are the perfect match

When announcing the arrival of their baby, Cheryl posted a snap of Liam cradling their child, and captioned: "On Wednesday 22nd March Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy, weighing 7lb 9 and looking like a dream. Although he still doesn't have a name he is already stealing hearts. We are all madly in love and overwhelmingly happy with our little arrival. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers around the world. A day that now has a different meaning to me forever."
