With the release of Susan's second album The Gift, her rise to superstardom seemed complete. It raced to number one on both sides of the Atlantic – meaning she had achieved a feat not even Madonna could manage, scoring a number one in the UK and US twice in one year. Only the Beatles and the Monkees had managed to equal her record.

"I'm overwhelmed but delighted… It's hard to put into words," said the singing star.
