She was eventually chosen by judges Pete Waterman, Geri Halliwell and Louis Walsh as a member of new girls group Girls Aloud.
The sassy quintet went on to beat their boy band rivals One True Voice in securing the Christmas Number One with their first single, Sound of the Underground
