Now that David Beckham has kick started his dream venture of creating an American soccer team, his UK-based family will be spending more time in the US. And they couldn't be happier.

David has talked about how thrilled his loved ones are about the prospect of getting to know Miami, where his new Major League Soccer side will be based.

"They're really excited," David told TV presenter Matt Lauer during a chat for the Today show on Thursday.

"The boys are asking what the kits are going to be and what players are going to play and things like that so they're excited about spending time down here."

Victoria has spent time in Miami before so she's excited but obviously I am going be spending a lot more time here and I'm going be very hands on. It's what I believe makes a successful owner and that's what I'll be.

"The Beckhams moved back to Britain from Los Angeles after David left LA Galaxy in 2012 and recently bought a house in the capital.

Victoria has said on numerous occasions how she feels "London is home", but is still fond of the US after the family spent so much time there.

The sports star plans to be a hands on manager, as he stressed during a press conference in Miami this week.

Now the fashion designer and children Brooklyn, 14, 11-year-old Romeo, Cruz, eight, and two-year-old Harper will get the chance to explore a new city Stateside as David gets his new venture off the ground.

"I want to create a team that we can start from scratch and I am going to work hard for this city to make this team very successful. It is an exciting time," he said.

"I have worked with some of the biggest clubs and greatest players and this is a dream. "The ex-Manchester United midfielder, who has also had spells with Real Madrid, AC Milan and Paris St-Germain before retiring last May, added that players were already interesting in coming to Miami to join his dream team.

David also revealed plans to build a world class stadium. He told Matt: "In a couple of years, two to three years we'll hopefully have the stadium built. We're still trying to secure the site we want, the land we want.

"Until we do that, I'm working very closely with the mayor and commissioners in Miami. Once we have the land, once we start the build of the stadium, that's when we'll announce it."
