Finding a home in Madrid proved something of a challenge for Britain's favourite couple. It was widely predicted that the family would choose a mansion in a leafy suburb north of the Spanish capital.
La Moraleja is home to many of David's Real Madrid team-mates, including Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Raul, Roberto Carlos and Zinedine Zidane. The couple viewed a series of luxury residences, but none of the area's modern mansions really felt like a "home".
They eventually decided to rent a £4.5-milllion ranch-style property in the exclusive gated community of Las Encinas, 12 miles outside the city. The mansion, which includes a heated outdoor pool and state-of-the-art security, is located near the home of King Juan Carlos.
And its proximity to the royal residence means that it is in a no-fly zone, so the Beckhams don't have to worry about the press using helicopters to disturb their privacy.
"I'm really happy here," David told reporters after he moved in. "I've found a house now so I will feel even more at home."
