Christina Aguilera had no idea what her music exec then-boyfriend Jordan Bratman had in store for her on their Valentine's Day 2005 weekend getaway in Big Sur, California.

First, Jordan painstakingly recreated an intimate dinner they'd had in India. And when the couple returned to their hotel room, Christina found the suite had been scattered with rose petals and filled with balloons. Also awaiting her were a number of boxes, arranged treasure-hunt style, each containing a clue in the form of a poem. One by one, she opened the gifts and, she says, "When I got to the last box, there was a ring in it. I was so surprised!"

After Christina found the five carat diamond and platinum ring, designed by London jeweller Stephen Webster - who created wedding bands for Madonna and Guy Ritchie - Jordan got down on one knee and asked: "Will you do me the honour of being my wife?".

It's clear Jordan knew what his wife-to-be wanted - the "unbelievable" proposal, she says, "couldn't have been more perfect".
