TOM CRUISE
The award for hands-on-dad must surely go to Tom Cruise, who claims to be "excellent at changing nappies" and that he loves diaper duty. The War Of The Worlds actor says he can't keep his eyes off new arrival Suri, who was born in April. "She's a beauty," he enthuses, adding that the birth of his first child with fiancée Katie Holmes was "everything that we wanted it to be. It was spiritual. It was powerful. It was indescribable."

Tom also has two older children – 13-year-old Isabella and Conor, 11 – whom he adopted with former wife Nicole Kidman. And the actor is often seen proudly supporting them from the sideline at school baseball matches.

Keen for them to have as normal an upbringing as possible, he has laid down a few ground rules. "My concern is being the best parent I can be," he once explained. Computer games and TV are an absolute no no, and the kids are given chores - "because I want them to know it's important to work" Tom explains. Life as a junior Cruise is not all serious, however, as Tom showed when he took Conor along to the London premiere of Mission: Impossible III, where father and son were decked out in identical suits and matching shades.
