The current First Lady of the United States could make up a veritable bouquet with her namesake flowers, including the Laura Bush petunia, created when her husband George W Bush was governor of Texas.
Her name has recently been lent to not one, but two orchids – the US-grown white and purple Brassolaeliocattleya Laura Bush, and the lemon yellow Mokara Laura Bush, which is native to Singapore.
"I can't imagine anything nicer than having an orchid named after yourself," she has said.
