THE MOST ELEGANT WOMAN OF 2004 PRINCESS MARY OF DENMARK
1st – Princess Mary (34%)
Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary has been crowned hellomagazine.com’s Most
Elegant Woman by our readers. The outcome backs the opinion of Danish
designer Mikkel Skjoldan, who pronounced, "Mary is unquestionably a fashion
icon," shortly after her May wedding to Crown Prince Frederik.
Even before meeting her prince, the Aussie real estate agent, convinced that
"life was passing her by", signed up with a £500 self-improvement school in
her native Oz. Here she was taught poise, postural alignment and fluidity of
movement. She can have had no idea the metamorphosis that awaited her,
however, once the handsome Danish heir entered her life. As his fiancée,
Mary embarked upon a crash course in deportment and etiquette, and began to
show off a whole new wardrobe.
Since her romantic nuptials, the Tasmanian-born princess has established
herself as a woman the
cameras are always watching. Simple and chic seems to be the key, with her
classic-yet-modern taste - leaning toward well-cut suits in a fresh, soft
palette - has royal watchers drawing comparisons to icons Jacqueline Kennedy
Onassis and Audrey Hepburn. And the 32-year-old looks equally stylish
whether she's in full ballroom regalia or helping crew a sailing boat
alongside her sporty husband. |
