While Jemima seemed to manage the difficult balancing act – activist, politician's wife, mother and British socialite – with grace, reports began to emerge that all was not going smoothly for the former cricketer and his beautiful spouse.
In December 2003, Jemima, who had begun studying for a Masters degree at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London while Imran remained in Pakistan, issued a denial of any marriage difficulties. "Both Imran and I have become accustomed to these spiteful rumours," the statement read. "However, that does not make them less hurtful for those around us and in particular our family."
