When diminutive Tom Cruise and the statuesque Nicole Kidman split in 2001, the actress joked that she could finally start wearing high heels again. Her bank balance also hit a spike in the wake of the split, with Tom agreeing to pay her an estimated $85 million.
Agreement was reached during an amicable three-hour discussion, after which the pair were pictured hugging. The two actors were determined to maintain good relations for the sake of their children Isabella and Conor. “We're a family and we're going to raise these kids together,” said Tom. “You can still love that person even though you have disagreements and I feel that way about Nicole.”
