British hopefuls
Tom Daley: diving
Among the hometown hopefuls aiming for Olympic glory is diving sensation and Young Sports Personality Of The Year-winner Tom Daley. When the 14-year-old launches himself off the dive board this summer he'll make history as Britain's second-youngest male Olympian.
The youngster, who first started diving when he was seven and these days fits in a gruelling 30 hours training around his school week, will be hoping to echo the gold he won at the European Championships in March. He admits, however, his real hopes for glory are focused on 2012. "We'll have to wait and see what happens in Beijing. I'm going there for the experience," explains the modest 5ft 2in champ. "I'll be going to win medals in London!"
